The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy
Remember Sweeny Todd, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Edward Scissorhands and the most recent Alice in Wonderland?
Tim Burton, who directed the above films, is a master director of all things weird and gothic. You can be sure that in this particular book, he will stretch your imagination beyond your wildest bounderies. Take for example the love story between stick boy and match girl. Lets just say the relationship ended up in flames-literally.
His lurid, cute but kinda creepy illustrations evoke both the sweetness and tragedy of being an adolescent outsider.
